Learn our KidSing songs (from Each Little Dew Drop: new songs for young hearts; Taylor Publications CD-178; 1998 & from Children's Songs: Bible study guide for all ages - Disc 2)
This is one of our most precious and effective teaching tools used at Arlington. We take no credit whatsoever for this program. We copied it directly from Glenn Coley, currently (2007) preaching for the West Hunstville church of Christ in Huntsville, AL. The link above will take you to their website.
KidSing takes place after our Sunday evening worship. All the children, any age, come to the front and we sing songs and memorize flash cards. The songs we sing teach us the books of the Bible, the Judges, the Apostles, the writers of the New Testament, the sons of Jacob, Kings of Israel, etc.
The cards we memorize are facts about the Bible and it's stories. We have just completed the entire OT and NT in Aug. 2006 and the book of Acts 2007. We are using positive reinforcement to encourage the kids to keep learning. When they memorize a set of flash cards and can recite them to an elder, they will receive a trophy, plaque, medal, or certificate for their achievement.
Every week we conclude KidSing by asking the children the following 4 questions and allow them to give the response:
- What is God's plan for marriage?...one man and one woman for life
- When I grow up I wan to marry?...a Christian
- What is our definition of true success?...living your life and going to heaven
- What is our definition of true failure?...living your life and not going to heaven
The following is a list of the cards/facts the children will be memorizing this year. Click on each for KidSing cards.
